CCSD Athletics: Highlights from the week of April 21, 2025
5A State Girls Team Tennis: Creek to the final four
The Cherry Creek High School girls tennis team went undefeated in its first two state team meets last week, putting the Bruins in the state semifinals. No. 2 seeded Creek shut out No. 15 Denver East 7-0 on April 23, and then rolled to another 7-0 decision over No. 7 Rocky Mountain last Friday. Next, the Bruins will host No. 2 Valor Christian on May 6. The winner will go to the State Championship on Tuesday, May 13 at the Denver Tennis Park.

Regional championships in girl’s individual play were announced on April 25. Competition will take place from April 30 to May 3 at eight sites along the Front Range.

5A Boys Volleyball: Eaglecrest takes 2nd in the Centennial Challenge
The Eaglecrest boys volleyball team advanced to the finals of the Centennial League Challenge last week. EHS went 2-1 in the Challenge, shutting out both Cherry Creek and Grandview by 3-sets-to-none final scores. Saturday, the Raptors took on top-seeded Littleton Public Schools at Heritage High School. Eaglecrest was competitive but fell three sets (23-25) (16-23) (22-25) to none to LPS to finish second overall in the Centennial League. Grandview finished third, Cherokee Trail 5th, Cherry Creek 6th and Overland 7th. The Raptors are 19-3 (8-1 in the Centennial) and will complete the regular season on the road at 19-2 Mountain Vista on Monday.
Regional seeding and brackets will be released by the Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA) on April 30. Eight regional winners will qualify for the State Championships, which will be held May 8-10 at Trojan Arena on the campus of Fountain-Fort Carson High School in Colorado Springs.
